NYC and walking: your free workout

New Yorkers walk more than the U.S. average simply because of public transit and city layout. Regular brisk walking (about 30 minutes a day) lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
Tip: Try getting off the subway one stop early and walking the rest of the way a few times a week.
